Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have always challenged myself physically and over the last few years I have competed in 2 Iron Man events and done various long distance cycle events. When I retired, I decided to fly to Poland and then cycle home. This was a challenge for a man in his 60s and I said to myself that this would be the last time that I attempted such a feat.......however......
During 2015 and 2016 I witnessed first hand the health of my father in law, Eric, deteriorate until he sadly passed away in 2016. I therefore decided that I would attempt one final long distance cycle event and, at the same time, attempt to raise some money for Weston Hospice who provided exceptional care whilst Eric was alive.
My chosen challenge is to fly to Seattle in April 2017 and then, armed with a bike, a lot of inner tubes and a tent, cycle to New York. I anticipate that this will take approximately 6 weeks, covering circa 3,500 miles, a variety of terrain and a lot of hard graft.
I will be trying to provide updates on my journey via social media (I worry about this more than the cycle) and will confirm details when I can.
I would be delighted if you would consider sponsoring me. Weston Hospice is a fantastic cause.
Thank you
Rob Dillon, February 2017.
