Roman’s Head Shave · 4 May 2020

Despite everything, Chester Zoo is still preventing extinction. From caring for 35,000 animals to helping conservation organisations across the world manage the impact of this crisis, our fight for wildlife will not stop!

Story

Roman is shaving his head to raise money for Chester Zoo, and in particular, the penguins. We are a key worker family so he has been going to school during the lockdown where they have been watching the Chester Zoo live cameras; he’s been very taken by this and has come home wanting to help.

Roman is eight years old and is on the autism spectrum; he really does not love having his big curly hair cut! He’s never ever had it cut this short (I’m dreading it!) however, this decision is entirely his own and something he wants to do. He would do it and be happy with raising just £10 but please do dig deep and give a nod to how massive this is going to be for him on the day.

We will live stream the shave on Facebook, on Monday 25th May!

In Roman’s words: “Since there‘s not many visitors going to the zoo now I would like to raise money for the animals. My favourite animals at the zoo are the penguins and they cost £30 a day to feed. I’d like all the animals to be alive and well. I feel scared to shave my hair off but a deal’s a deal! I like my hair.“
