Story
After watching last year's London Marathon on TV I had the urge to take on the challenge once more. I had hoped to be accepted for a ballot place, but knowing how difficult this can be I signed up for a charity place with 5 different charities. This will be my 4th London Marathon charity effort and after a 8 year break from running on a regular basis it's going to be a tough one. Friends and family will understand my reasons for taking on this challenge again and know that my determination is what will get me through those 26 miles. All my chosen charities were involved in helping children with cancer or life threatening illnesses. Knowing and having experienced the amazing work this charity does when my daughter Karina was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma it seemed the right one to choose. Make A Wish Foundation was the first charity to offer me a place so I accepted straight away. Having run for them before I knew that the support they offer their runners was fabulous. I was really surprised when the other 4 charities also offered me a place but it was too late I was already taken.
Please support me in my efforts. This charity do amazing work and help build lasting memories for children and their families to remember. I can vouch for that.
Make-A-Wish UK grant magical wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. Granting their wish provides seriously ill children with hope for the future, strength to cope and resilience to fight their condition. They’re given quality time away from the daily realities of living with their condition and given the chance to make magical memories they can treasure forever – whatever their future may hold. We want to transform the lives of 1,000 children this year by granting their One True Wish!
