Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. The Children's Hospital Charity is a cause close to our hearts and we have taken up the CRAZY challenge of Canoeing 127 miles from Liverpool to Leeds to raise money.  We set off on the 13th September from Liverpool and we are hoping to arrive in Leeds on the 16th September.

Your donation will help go towards the following improvements at the Sheffield facility-

Cancer Ward - currently treats children from babies all the way to 19 years old and sometimes they can be there for over a year at a time.  Whilst the care is world class the facilities are not.  Children who suffer from Cancer can develop PTSD.  As a result they want to create a new home from home with space, privacy and natural light to make isolation a place of sanctuary and calm.

Emergency Department - this is a major trauma centre helping up to 200 children EVERY day!  Whilst the treatment is the best in the UK the facilities do little to ease the anxiety felt by children and families.  It was built to see a maximum of 32k patients each year but that number is now nearer 60k.  This investment is needed to save lives and treat our children.

Helipad - the hospital wants to build a new helipad, this is to help patients who urgently need critical care and really can be the difference between life and death.  During 2018 15% of emergency arrivals were by air ambulance and currently they can only land in daytime hours because there is inadequate lighting in the park.  A helipad on the roof would allow patients to be brought to the hospital at any time of day, any time of the year.

Tony Hockey, Dean Lee, Elizabeth Draper, Alison Williams, Matt Wood, Alan Casey, Adam Jesusko, Jacob Green, Stephen Greenfield, Joanna Combes and Chloe Jones are the team ready and raring to go!  For those of you that know us, you will know this is insane and for those of you that don't let me tell you a bit about us.  We are a highly motivated group that work for Openreach in the Streetworks, Regulatory and Operations functions.  We are much more suited to a weekend spent supping beer, straightening hair, watching sport from the sidelines, toddling in heels and finishing it all with a lovely Sunday Roast...  Spending a weekend in a Canoe?  Unbelievable!

Please dig deep and support us in this crazy challenge and help us raise money for this fantastic cause.  Motivate us to get to the gym so we survive the challenge!!

We will be rowing down the canal so feel free to pop your head out, wave, heckle and throw us a bottle of water.  We will be red faced and sweating sporting our Openreach t-shirts!
