Sadie's Big Chop

Sadie Petchey is raising money for Havens Hospices
In memory of Janet Jones
When an adult or child has been diagnosed with a complex or incurable condition, Havens Hospices can provide the care they need, ‘Making every day count’. Our specialist Care Teams can support them in the comfort of their own home and through our hospices, Fair Havens and Little Havens.

Story

Hi! I am Sadie Petchey and I am braving the chop!

For the last 6 years I have been growing my hair. Currently, I am at around 25 inches from root to tip, which is just over 2 foot! In July, I am having 14 inches cut off, so more than half of my hair! I am donating my hair to The Little Princess Trust, a charity who produce wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer and their treatments. They are able to transform the lives of young children and give them the confidence they need to feel like princes and princesses again.

The donations I receive will be going to Havens Hospice. Havens, a local hospice, provided home palliative care to my Nana in the final weeks of her battle with cancer. She was the bravest and strongest lady, who faced her battle with dignity and grace, right up to the end. She is dearly missed by all her family and friends. A day doesn't pass where we do not think of her loving and caring personality, her wit and her love of the quiet things in life. Also, the hospice were able to provide her husband with support throughout the difficult times. Havens are located in Southend and the surrounding areas, providing care for those in their final days. These sorts of organisations are vital in ensuring our loved ones are comfortable and as well as they can be during these difficult times, which is why I am choosing to support Havens Hospice.

Thank you so much for reading! I will be posting before and after photos when I have them in June!
