We work with volunteers and visitors to provide a tourist attraction

Story

The Trust continues to progress the work to restore the two ex-British Railways 16-ton mineral wagons that were obtained from the Swanage Railway for £3,000.  At the moment (March 2021) whilst we endeavor to raise more money for the appeal, in order to purchase more materials for the restoration of the two wagons, the small team of volunteers has started to focus their efforts on the PalVan that we obtained from the Swanage Railway.

The PalVan is currently being stripped back to the metalwork - virtually all the panel sides have rotted away - and then once stripped the metal frame will be treated prior to it being painted and then the sides replaced with new timber panels.

Your donations will assist with the work to restore both the PalVan and the continuing restoration work on the two mineral wagons.

Our intention is to purchase other wagons of this type with the objective of operating a rake of these in a demonstration freight train.  Imagine how good this will look with an iconic  Somerset and Dorset Fowler 7F freight locomotive at its head.

Thank you to everyone who donates.
