Seggy Runs

London Marathon 2019 · 28 April 2019 ·
Hello, my name is Mark Segasby (Seggy).
I am running with the goal of raising £5,000 for the charity www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk. My mum passed away on June 6th 2018 from pancreatic cancer. She was only 64 years old and taken from us within 4 months of diagnosis. I am running it for her, her family and anyone else affected by this disease.
That all changed in Feb 2016, I bought a book to try and improve my terrible red ruddy skin and the spots on my face, called – Clear Skin Forever (www.clearskinforever.net/book). I didn’t mind being fat, but I hated having bad skin, it was embarassing, I felt unclean. As a result of following the diet in that book, my skin improved within a few weeks, the weight started to drop off and I had a huge amount of energy – I started walking miles every day.
Fast forward to now and I have lost about 9 stone in weight and have already run 3 half marathons. No one would ever have expected me to start running and enjoy it, but I really do. I was out of breath walking the kids to school round the corner before. I’m sure I’ll talk more about my weight loss journey to date too in this blog, and share some of what I have learned along the way.
So my goal is not to just complete the London Marathon, but to do it in style. I don’t want to walk half of it. I want to get a credible time and train hard to do this. I am still over weight, and in my opinion too heavy to run 26 miles at the moment.
I havent weighed myself for a while, I’m scared to (I will soon). I have put on some of the weight I lost. Partly due to moving to a vegan diet during the last year, a skiing injury, and I guess due to dealing with mum being ill and coming off the rails a little with exercise and diet due to that. Having the marathon and this blog will sort all of that out! I’m a man on a mission.
I am recording my journey to this marathon in a blog: www.seggyruns.com
Much love
