Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Once again, the time has come for me to take part in SOCK IT TO EATING DISORDERS. This time, I'll be wearing a monkey onesie all week (27th Feb - 4th March), whilst also wearing my crazy socks! Why a monkey? I'll also be running a session at university to make sock monkeys and to raise more money for this amazing charity!

Beat have helped me in many ways. When I first realised I was experiencing symptoms of an eating disorder, their online boards and helplines allowed me to feel less alone. My parents were able to find out more information about eating disorders thanks to Beat!

But it doesn't end there! One of my goals in recovery was to become a Beat Young Ambassador. This goal helped me to keep going when everything seemed so difficult! When I applied to become an ambassador, I was still very apprehensive about speaking out about my eating disorder. I still felt ashamed and didn't know how people would react if I became more open. But becoming  a Young Ambassador has been one of the best things I have ever done. I know that it has helped me in my recovery, and has more generally helped me to be a more confident person. I have had opportunities that, just a few years ago, I could never have imagined! I literally can't thank Beat enough for everything they have done for me.

So I'm raising money to say thank you, but also so that Beat can continue their amazing work and help other people to overcome their eating disorder and live a life they value, just like they helped me.

Any donation is hugely appreciated and I would like to thank you for your support! Together, we can help to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders!

Thank you!
