Southampton Rag move 259km for Stop Hate UK/BLM · 1 August 2020

Stop Hate UK is one of the leading national organisations working to challenge all forms of Hate Crime and discrimination, based on any aspect of an individual’s identity. We provide independent, confidential and accessible reporting and support for victims, witnesses and third parties.

Story

In 2019, 259 black lives were taken by American police (source: www.statista.com). The BLM movement started by the systematic racism that exists in our society is one that most of us are familiar with by now, but for a lot of people, the conversation about racial injustices has died down.
Therefore, for the month of August, we thought we would create a campaign which would keep the movement going, by moving 259km to represent each of these of these lives that ended too soon. Southampton Rag aims to complete this distance as a team, by running, walking, cycling ect!

We hope that through this campaign, we will continue to keep the BLM movement and conversation going, so we can continue to educate ourselves and others and raise awareness of the systematic racism that is so deeply engrained in our society.
