Story
On 7th June 1992 Special Constable Glenn Goodman was fatally wounded when he and his colleague, PC Sandy Kelly, were victims of an IRA attack whilst carrying out a routine traffic stop on the A64, near Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.
Glenn's memory lives on across North Yorkshire Police and #StepsForGlenn was born in 2020 to unite members of the Special Constabulary who were unable to attend memorial events due to the pandemic. As we now approach the 30th anniversary of his death, a group of colleagues and friends will walk 30miles to mark this anniversary milestone.
The journey will take up from Fulford Road, York to Tadcaster, via Selby and will be completed in one day.
We are kindly asking for support by donation to our chosen charity, and event supporters, Police Care UK.
Police Care UK makes sure both serving and former police colleagues who suffer harm, and their families, have someone to when things get tough. We provide practical, emotional, and financial support that is confidential, independent and accessible. Our mission is to reduce the impact of harm on police and their families. We do this by ensuring everyone is aware of the harm police experience, enable people to recover and rebuild their lives, and engage with the police service to do all they can to reduce or prevent harm.
