Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Though my wife, Junko Taylor., was born on St George’s Day (23 April 1965) she only visited England once, in January 2003. Later the same year, Junko, passed away at the age of 38, having suffered from mental health problems for quite some time. Sadly, she hadn’t been able to get the support she needed, either at that time or when she was younger, leading to the desperation that led to her death.
In June 2019, I walked the final 115 km of the Camino De Santiago from Sarria to Santiagio De Compostela. Three months later, I chalked up a further 120 km of the 790 km trail that starts in the south of France and ends in Galicia, northwest Spain, this time from Logroño to Burgos.
In August 2020, I completed the first 160 km of the Camino, from St Jean Pied De Port to Logroño, and a year later I walked from Burgos to Ponferrada, .
During all of these stages, my thoughts were with Junko and, in a sense, I was never really alone. I didn’t seek sponsorship for charity, though people did occasionally ask if I was walking for a cause.
As I was planning the final instalment of my Camino in July 2022, I thought it would be good to provide the opportunity for people to support the Samaritans, a charity that does a fantastic job of counselling people following suicide and helps to ease the desperation that can be ultimately so tragic.
If you would like to donate to a very deserving cause, I would be extremely grateful. You can follow my progress and read about my previous trips on my blog at http://stevetaylorscamino.home.blog (you might have to copy and paste this link).
By the way, all donations will go directly to the charity, with none of the money whatsoever helping to fund my trip.
Thank you
Steve Taylor
