Story
Stewart was diagnosed with a slow growing brain tumour in 2014. Although not immediately life threatening these tumours nearly always transition into a higher grade with devastating consequences.
In January 2017, Stewart's tumour transitioned to the highly aggressive Glioblastoma, which sadly has an average life expectancy of 12 - 18 months. Treatment options for this disease have barely progressed in the last 10 years, in the main due to woefully low levels of funding compared with other cancers.
Despite his unbelievable strength of character, Stewart had no chance against his illness. It gradually robbed him of his independence and everything he loved in life, from riding his bike to simply remembering what he just did and being able to chat with his friends and family. We were lucky that despite everything he retained his gentle nature and cheeky sense of humour, but that is not the case for all brain tumour sufferers.
No-one should have to go through what Stewart, me and his family have been through, particularly in the last 3 months. With the help of your donations to the Brain Tumour Charity we can give hope to other families, so that Stewart's brave fight was not in vain.
