Story
Hi,
My Name is Mitch. Myself, my family and friends are participating in fundraising events during World Autism Acceptance Week and we will be raising money for the National Autistic Society. Me and my friend, Bruce, are looking to raise money hosting a charity gaming stream on Twitch, which will be at midday on Sunday 2nd April, as well as my boys participating in a colourful sock week at their school.
We're fundraising on this World Autism Acceptance Week to help change attitudes regarding autism, create a society that works for all autistic people and to quash the antiquated narrative around people on the spectrum. This topic is something very close to my heart as my son is on the Autism spectrum. To me and his Mama, he is an emphatically inquisitive young boy who loves animals, solving puzzles, doing maths and science, and has the odd social dilemma here and there, but we wouldn't change a single thing about him, not for all the riches of the world. For him, we know the least we can do is to help him, and others like him, get the support they need and deserve.
Last year, we hosted a similar event and successfully raised over £600. We're aware that this year is very different compared to when we've done it in the past. Lots of people may not have spare money they can give away, even to charities, and we completely understand. Any money we do raise though will be highly appreciated and will go a long way to helping those living with autism one way or another. Any and all donations will mean the world and do really make a difference.
Look forward to seeing you on the stream.
Mitch and family :)
