Story
I started swimming regularly at the end of 2017 after years of not swimming at all as I wanted to set myself a personal challenge for 2018. I decided that I wanted to raise money for Weston Hospice in Memory of my partner's wonderful mum, Lisa. I was luckily enough to meet Lisa before she passed but wished we had more time together. I thought doing this challenge would help me feel closer to Lisa and make my family proud whilst also raising money for Weston Hospice. Weston Hospice give such vital care to their patients and also support to families at difficult times and I wanted to help them continue to be able to do that.
The whole point of a challenge is for it to test you, therefore I wanted to create a challenge which wouldn't be easy, wouldn't just take one days commitment, therefore I have set myself a challenge to swim 52 miles.
I will start my challenge on 11th March 2018 (the day we lost Lisa 2 years ago) and plan to swim 52 miles by Lisa's 52nd Birthday, 20th October 2018. This gives me just under 33 weeks to swim 3,348 lengths in a 25m pool.
I would like to raise £250 pounds and I will donate £50 personally if I reach this target. If I exceed this target, I will donate £10 for each additional £50 raised (up to £500, where I will donate £100 personally!).
I will be posting regular updates of my journey, so keep an eye out and please donate whatever you are able to give!
