Story
Some of you may know that one of our oldest friends Mandy has a very poorly baby boy Jared.
He turned one earlier this year and has already been through more than many will in a lifetime..
Jared has a condition that affects one in 10,000 boys called PUV (posterior urethra valves).
This affected his kidneys and he was born with stage 5 CKD end stage renal failure. He began dialysis at 9 months old and now has dialysis 6 nights a week at home that he's on for 10 hours.
He is fed through a tube in this tummy to ensure he has the right amount of nutrients. He is on 10 different medications including one injection daily.
Mandy has to keep up with blood tests every fortnight, clinic visits and countless urine and kidney infections resulting in regulars trips to Manchester Childrens Hospital.
Jared will be having a loop ureterostomy next month to divert urine and prevent the bladder from infection.
For Jared and his family, a transplant can't come quick enough but needs to meet specific height and weight criteria. but hopefully in 2-3 years he will be ready!
Until then, We want to try to raise as much money and awareness for Kidney Research as we can!
We will be running the Manchester 10k to start with, and im sure there will be many more fundraising events along the way, but we have to start somewhere.
One of our other friends, Emily Lowther, is also doing a separate fundraising page, as she is completing 150 miles which is the distance between her house to Baby Jared's with tough mudder, the Manchester 10k and numerous other runs - insn't she nuts!!!
Any donation that you can give helps families such as this one so much support, help and information they need during these difficult and challenging times.
Thank you in advance
Love
Team Jared
