Tensing Close Defibrillator Upkeep and Maintenance Fund
The community of Tensing Close is partnering with AEDdonate to raise funds to support the ongoing upkeep of the defibrillator located in their neighbourhood. This vital life‑saving device is already in place and accessible to anyone in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).
To ensure the defibrillator remains fully operational and ready to use at all times, regular replacement of pads and batteries is essential. This campaign is focused on covering those ongoing costs, helping to protect our community for years to come.
This defibrillator has been deployed by the Ambulance Service 8 times since its installation.
Why Maintaining a Defibrillator is Important
Every year in the UK, around 115,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests are reported to ambulance services. Of these, ambulance services attempt resuscitation in around 43,000 people.
Sadly, fewer than 1 in 10 people who receive resuscitation following an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survive. Every second counts, and early CPR and prompt access to a defibrillator can make a life-saving difference.
In England, a bystander uses a public-access defibrillator in only around 9% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.
