Story
Last year, three intrepid members of the Hackers Golf Society, Andy Caldwell, Nick Wright and Graham Cork took on a 72 hole challenge for MacMillan. Those "Never Again" feelings have faded with the passage of time and this year, the bar has been raised to 100 holes - the Ultra Marathon - raising money for Prostate Cancer UK. Unfortunately, injury means that Andy won't be able to make it, but another Hacker of immense experience, Shane Aldons, has stepped up to the tee. We are all fully focussed: Nick and Graham having returned refreshed from the "training regime" in the Algarve and Shane is on a personalised programme at a secret location.
The action starts at around 4am on 21st June and we are indebted to our most experienced Hacker, Derek Steer, who is providing invaluable support services - keeping us fed and hydrated - on the day.
Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That’s thousands of dads, brothers, partners, grandads, mates, sons and uncles. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We are taking on The Big Golf Race to help raise money and awareness of prostate cancer to keep men in the game for longer. Your donation will help fund lifesaving research to find better tests to diagnose men sooner and will be greatly appreciated by Nick, Shane, Graham and Derek. Thank you for your support - it means a lot.
