We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Everyone's life in one way or another has been affected by knowing, and possibly losing, someone who has battled cancer.

However, EVERY DAY SEVEN YOUNG PEOPLE between the ages of 13 and 24 are diagnosed.

Being young and the teenage years are all about adventures, experimenting, exams, first loves, first jobs, university, parties...... the choices and challenges around are endless. All four of us agree that this was a pretty life defining time, and despite some regrets we would still probably to do the same again!!

That's why this challenge struck a chord with us all - something crazy and life defining, and for a very worthy cause - raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, so that young people who face cancer can be supported and treated alongside others their own age, making a huge and positive difference to their experience.

SO what is this mad challenge that we are setting ourselves up for?

The Dumball Challenge!

Basically, driving from Jodphur to Goa, in 35+ degree heat in a clapped out and mechanically unreliable Indian jeep (that's why we are taking Dave - hopefully his mechanical skills will make sure we make it!!) in the 8 day time limit that's been set.

We start in the desert (yes, camels would have been a better option!) and make our way (hopefully) to Goa, facing all the inevitable challenges that driving through India has to offer!!  India's roads are notoriously dangerous and avoiding the livestock, potholes, cattle and scooters is only part of the game!

The trip is completely self-funded by the four of us so 100% of donations go in directly to Teenage Cancer Trust.

So far, the Dumball has raised over £500,000 for this great cause and we are trying, with your help, to add as much as we can to this total.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
