Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
On March 18th I was going to be taking part in Coventry Half Marathon. Unfortunately it has been cancelled due to weather warnings. I will now be taking on Chillington Hall Half Marathon on the 19th May! Watch this space.
Why? I am doing this in memory of my Uncle Mickey who lived with spina bifida and therefore spent his life in a wheelchair. Mickey never let this get in the way of his goals. He got to all the way to the 1984 Paralympics for wheelchair marathon racing and more recently the 2008 Beijing Paralympics for archery. He set records, travelled all over the world from Germany to Japan and much of the USA and was one of the group of people that got the wheelchair race into the world-famous London Marathon. Though many suffers of spina bifida don't make it to Mickey's age of 64, it wasn't the condition that took him from us but it was the big C. He was a true inspiration to me and everyone that knew him.
It's because of him that I want to raise money for Whizz- Kids, a charity very close to his heart. This charity's mission is to transform the lives of disabled children by providing the equipment, support and life skills they need, when they need them – giving them the chance to develop their full potential. Please donate to help Whizz- Kids support disabled children to become confident and independent young adults.
Go visit their website for all the information on the incredible work they do:
