Story
On 23 September I will join a number of my Specsavers colleagues sky diving over Nottingham. This is part of a big fundraising challenge in aid of Specsavers' charity partner RNIB. It's the day before National Eye Health Week, when both Specsavers and the charity will be upping their efforts to raise awareness in the importance of eye tests. At least half of sight loss is avoidable, but despite that 250 people start losing their sight every day in the UK. More awareness of eye health and better uptake of routine eye tests will really help tackle this. Funds raised for RNIB are essential in helping to transform eye health.
On my stag do in France, in July 2011, my friends had surprised me by organising a sky dive. Sadly it was too windy on the day, and the sky dive was cancelled. It's felt like unfinished business ever since, so when the opportunity presented itself to jump out of a plane while raising funds for RNIB, I knew I had to seize it. The thought of approaching that open aeroplane door, 15,000ft above land, terrifies and excites me in equal measures. Any donations will be hugely appreciated.
