Story
So, 3 half marathons, 11 full marathons, and 2 Ultras later for me it's the kids turn again! It's been in the pipeline for the 2 years but now it's a reality. Starting next month George & Siena (and me...) will be swimming the equivalent of the channel (not in 1 go). That's 22 miles, 1408 lengths of a 25 metre pool! They will be dong this in as few sessions as possible to accomplish the challenge.
There's more too, whilst the kids are busy thinking of new challenges, I will be running the Virgin London Marathon for the 3rd time, followed 5 weeks later by the London to Brighton Ultra100km!
Much of my mum's illness together with her tremendous courage can be traced back to the poverty she endured as a child in the Mezzogiorno of 1950's Italy. The youngest of 10 children, of which only 4 survived, begging on the streets and working full time aged 5 in and leaving the family home to seek work in the big city aged 8. In 1950's Italy there was no Barnardo's looking out for children in poverty. If there were maybe things could have been very different.
And my dear father in law, whom I never had the chance to meet. A great man from what I have been told!
