We fund support services and research to find a cure for sarcoidosis

Story

In July 2015, our cousin James passed away suddenly after having a cardiac arrest as a result of undiagnosed Sarcoidosis at the age of 29.

Sarcoidosis is a rare condition that causes small patches of red and swollen tissue, called granulomas, to develop in the organs of the body. It usually affects the lungs and skin.

A statement from SarcoidosisUK: "Sarcoidosis is a rare autoimmune disease with no known
cause or cure affecting 2 in every 10,000 people in the UK. It does not receive
sufficient attention from pharmaceutical companies or medical
researchers. SarcoidosisUK may be small but we are a leading investor in
sarcoidosis research. We have pledged to fund at least one major sarcoidosis
research project each year. We will continue to do this again and again until
we have found a cure. Until then, we support and inform anyone affected by
sarcoidosis and raise awareness. SarcoidosisUK receive no government
funding – our work would not be possible without generous donations of time and
money."

For the second year running, on 13th and 14th September 2018, James' family and friends will be cycling 144 miles from James' home town Worcester to Lyme Regis, where he holidayed with his family every year.

Watch this space for updates of the training and cycle itself.

You can help make a difference. SarcoidosisUK are partnered with British Lung Foundation and all donations will be matched. For example, if you donate £50, Sarcoidosis will receive £100.
