I am a police officer of ten years.  Those closest to me know that it's no secret that my life has taken a bit of a tumble recently...

As part of my rehabilitation, I decided it was time to take myself off, just me with my stove and a tent for company.  A kind of extreme head clearing exercise if you like.

I'm going to be trekking from Plymouth, Devon to Lands End in Cornwall - a 146 mile stretch of the South West coastal path.  It's rugged terrain and it's fair to say it's going to be a challenge.

It was my wife, Claire who suggested I should do the trek for charity and in light of what life has thrown at me recently, the Mind Blue Light programme is a cause very close to our hearts.

PTSD in the Emergency Services is a very up and coming problem and it's incredibly difficult for people like me to even know it's all going wrong in the first place, let alone ask for help.

The programme is carrying out some phenomenal work with Emergency Services, not least working to challenge the Stigma around PTSD and other mental health issues.

All the money raised will go directly to Mind.  The best thing being, if we hit that magic 5k target, it will ensure that every pound donated will go to the Blue Light element of the charity.  This will allow them to continue to support Emergency Service Personnel who lay their lives (and health) on the line for others.

Any small amount you can donate will truly make a massive difference.
