Story

In Memory of Colin Micklewright

We are fundraising to install a public-access community defibrillator in Trenowth, dedicated to the memory of Colin Micklewright.

Colin was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and community champion whose life was defined by kindness, generosity, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. Throughout his life, he dedicated countless hours to supporting charitable causes, particularly through his work with the Sunrise Appeal, where he served as Trustee and Treasurer for many years. His efforts helped improve access to vital healthcare services across Cornwall and positively impacted the lives of countless families.

Colin was never one to seek recognition. Whether supporting local causes, helping people through his accountancy practice, or raising funds for charity, he simply believed in doing what was right. A passionate golfer, he famously marked his 80th birthday by playing 80 holes of golf in a single day, walking nearly 33 miles and raising more than £10,000 for the Sunrise Appeal. It was a remarkable achievement that perfectly reflected his determination, generosity, and selfless spirit.

Today, we hope to honour Colin’s legacy by raising funds for a life-saving defibrillator that will be available to the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This device could make the difference between life and death in a cardiac emergency, providing reassurance and protection for residents, visitors, and future generations.

We believe there could be no more fitting tribute to Colin than a piece of equipment dedicated to saving lives. Just as he spent his life helping others, this defibrillator will stand as a lasting reminder of his compassion, community spirit, and the positive difference one person can make.

Every donation, no matter how small, will help us bring this important project to life and create a lasting legacy in memory of Colin Micklewright.
