St Catherine’s cares for patients and families who are affected by life-shortening conditions, at the hospice and in people’s own homes across Chorley, Preston and South Ribble. Our specialist care helps people enjoy the best possible quality of life to the end of life.

Story

I guess the story begins with one of the best people I knew . . . Caron Ann Noblett was kind, loving, caring, crazy - when it came to cats . . . . . and made deliciously awesome cakes! I thought she would be around for all of my life so when the news came that the cancer had won and there was nothing more that could be done it was devastating.

She, like so many others, spent the last part of her life at St Catherine's Hospice, they ensured my Auntie Caz was cared for medically and emotionally. They pay attention to each individual that is unmatched in any other place I have encountered. I can see now why it was her wish to spend the time she had there. St Cats is not just for the patients, it helps the family too, I have found great comfort in knowing I can still visit the grounds, speak to the staff or just be in one of the places where I feel her around me.

St Cats now holds a piece of my heart and we would like to help the hospice as much as we can in loving memory of an awesome lady.

Myself, Leon and Tom have all chosen to push ourselves to take on challenges throughout this year that we never thought we would ever do. Why? To raise money so that the hospice can give the same care and attention to other families in the same way they served us.

Upcoming challenges include:

1.    A Skydive in April
2.    A Fire Walk in June
3.    The 10 Mile Moonlight & Memories Walk in June
4.    The 8 Mile Morecambe Bay Walk in July
5.    Finally the 11 day Dalai Lama Trek in India in October

In between all this we will be training our butts off because for anyone that knows us will know exercise is not our friend, especially in Jamie's case! In truth we are all not fit enough to take on the challenge ahead but we soon will be! I have a voice in my head that guides me, pushes me up the massive hills i sometimes think i can't get up and I like to think of that voice as my crazy Auntie Caron.

I imagine if she were here, she would hug me, squeeze me tight and say you silly bugger! What on earth you doing that for? To which I now reply - for you, all for you and for all the others just like you and our family that do or will need St Catherine's help.
