Hello everyone, my name is Eddie Worrell and I'm walking the West Highland Way, the Great Glen Way, and the Affric Kintail way to raise much needed funds for St John Ambulance.

The West Highland Way is a linear long distance route in Scotland.  It is 154km long running from Milngavie north of Glasgow to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands, with an element of hill walking in the route.  I have completed this challenge before however I know how tough it can be.  The Great Glen Way, running from Fort William to Inverness covers an additional 125km and wild camping the whole way.

The Affric Kintail covers around 70Km with a total elevation gain/loss of over 6,500ft. It is by far more remote than the other two trails with nearly 3 days of no internet coverage and passing by the remotest youth hostel in Britain, being over 10 miles from the nearest village.

I'm not a St John volunteer however I recently attended an event in Gainsborough where the St John Ambulance crews were present.  After spending some time talking to the crew about what it is to be a volunteer and what St John is actually about, I was inspired to take on this challenge to support the,.  I've seen the ambulances around and they just quietly get on with caring for people.  These guys give their free time to care for our communities and even more so throughout the pandemic, supporting the NHS in the fight against COVID-19.
