Story

My journey:
This is a story about our son, Sultan Isa Khan, who was a fit and healthy 7 year old boy. He never had any types of ailments in his life and he was a very academic and naturally gifted boy in all areas.

In 2004, he was suddenly diagnosed with jaundice. Within 14 days he had passed away, and this was a tragedy that we would carry with us for the next 13 years of our lives.

Although such a huge part of us had been taken away from our heart, my wife and I always looked to be positive. If I was ever depressed my wife would cheer me up, and if she was ever down I would cheer her up. However, the problem with this short-term temporary fix was that we both used to eat food, especially regular fast food, as a way to forget about the sadness that had affected us.

Many years of a poor diet and no exercise had passed, and in 2017 my weight was nearly 18 stones. I had never weighed myself for the best part of 5 years - I guess because I knew I was overweight, still not wanting to accept it. But when I did find out, I decided then that I would do something about it so that my son could look down on my wife and I, and know that we had moved on and that we would try to fix ourselves to permanently be in a better place.

So, after now 12 months I am 13 stones, thanks to my personal trainer Michelle, and I’m sure Sultan would be very proud of his mum and dad for saving their health.

Both my wife and I are mentally, physically and spiritually much much fitter, a lot more positive and very thankful that we have achieved more than we could ever imagine over this past year.

I have now started taking piano lessons and have also become a vegetarian. I have realised that we all have ambitions in life and we should take every opportunity to make the most of it and fulfil them - not to waste time or to put obstacles in the way - but to most of all just ENJOY LIFE!

P.s, I am now doing a marathon in Liverpool for Marie Curie. My wife Saira and I have entered ourselves for the London Marathon for 2019 along with Michelle our personal trainer, and we hope to carry on experiencing and achieving even more for as long as we live.

I would very much appreciate any donations, and thank you for taking your time to read this.
