My story

Many thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Health,Education,Literacy Programme International gets your donation faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

The ride will be around 600 km over 10-12 days in March 2009, from Matopo, through to Bulawayo, Zvishavane, Masvingo, Great Zimbabwe, Chatsworth, and ending in Harare. Along the way the two riders will visit the orphanages in Bulawayo, Chatsworth, and Harare. The ride is unsupported and accommodation during the ten days comprises camping in the Zimbabwean bush in tents.

What about personal safety? Most of my friends have asked about personal safety. First, all large and dangerous animals in Zimbabwe live in National parks and our route does not go through any parks. Second, the general public ain Zimbabwe are the most friendly people you can ever hope to meet. We do not think we have overlooked anything.

Why Fun?
The riders would like to make the children who see them smile and have a bit of fun by dressing in funny clothes and caps, and handing out balloons and pencils to children.  Richard is wearing a red nose and a specially designed clown outfit.  If they can power a player, they will play funny music as well. Let the children have a bit of fun. The riders will also visit schools and communities in towns and villages along the route, when possible. Fun on Fun Zimbabwe Ride belongs to the children.

Why Fund raise? The money will be used for the construction of a children's home at Chatsworth, Zimbabwe, an area where  H.E.L.P Zimbabwe has projects.  The fund raising goal of the project  is £12000.

The riders are taking some basic equipment from the UK for the ride. Some of this will be left there for the local charity, H.E.L.P. Zimbabwe, to use for its operations. They include, the Bike ambulances, the bikes, and some boxes of medicines.

I am asking for your sponsorship, please!
