Futsal Marathon Guinness World Record Attempt · 6 April 2014

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

On Sunday April 6th 2014 we will be starting a 45 hour Futsal marathon, in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record. The current record, set last year by our friends in Norway, stands at 40 hours. For those of you that are wondering - Futsal is essentially a Brazilian version of 5-a-side indoor football. It is a game of skill, speed and creativity - none of which will be on display within about 2 hours of kick off. Despite the fact that our Herculean bodies would be more than capable of managing the entire 45 hours, we are thankfully part of a larger squad of 12, meaning our personal playing time will equate to roughly 20 hours each. This challenge has been organised by Oxford based mobile futsal legends FUTSOLE (http://www.futsole.com/).

The Alzheimers Society is a fantastic cause in which the three of us have a personal interest. They do amazing work in their support of an incredibly debilitating illness.

Please give generously, and if you happen to be in Oxford anytime between Sunday 6th April to Tuesday 8th, do come along to the Oxford Brookes Sports Hall and watch us make footballing history. Or maybe just come to see the look on Jack's face as he climbs into an ice bath.
