Thank you for your support and all the generous donations that have allowed me to already exceed my target! It's all for a great cause so keep it up!
I started doing triathlon last year and want to raise funds for The Alzheimer's Society through it. This disease is sadly very close to me and I hope to contribute to their efforts to better understand its cause, cure and care.
My grandmother suffered Alzheimer's during her last years. For long before she passed away last year, it was almost as if I had already lost her. She would hardly recognise me or keep track of events, even though she was always caring and attentive to all her grandchildren.
My aunt Carola also suffers it at a relatively young age. It's very sad to see someone as cheerful and active as she always was withdraw from her normal activities and family events because she is just not herself anymore.
New PB at the London Triathlon last Sunday 6th of August:
1.5km swim: 00:31:33
Transition 1: 00:03:59
41.1km cycle: 01:17:56
Transition 2: 00:01:46
9.8km run: 00:43:13
Race Total: 02:38:25
I'm delighted as this is more than 15 minutes faster than my time last year, when did my first olympic distance in this race and far better than the 2:45 I was hoping for. Seems all those early Saturday bike rides and morning swims in the Serpentine did pay off!
As I didn't get a spot in the New York City Marathon, I have applied to the ballot for London Marathon in April 2007. Fingers crossed...
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
Gabriel
