Two years ago our son Cian was taken extremely ill shortly after he was born. He was ultimately diagnosed with a rare genetic metabolic disorder, VLCAD. If it goes undetected and is not managed correctly it can be extremely serious, if not fatal.
Fortunately, since being diagnosed, Cian and his sister Naoise (who was subsequently diagnosed with VLCAD through genetic testing) have been under the care of the amazing specialist metabolic team at the Evelina Children's Hospital in London. As a result, both Cian and Naoise live full, normal, healthy lives and, along with their 2 brothers Eimhin and Fionn, ensure that our house is a noisy, chaotic and happy home!
We are eternally grateful to Mike Champion and the metabolic team at the Evelina and want to give something back - so on April 26th I shall be running 26.2 miles round the streets of London and looking to raise as much money for the Evelina Children's Hospital Appeal as I can.
