GARRETT MORGAN IS GOING TO RUN, GARRETT MORGAN IS GOING TO RUN. 

As much as I detest running, I will indeed be grinding my way through the Surf City 5K in Huntington Beach on July 4th.  I am running in support of Carolyn's cousin Alex Jones, who has been fighting a battle with brain tumors for the majority of his adult life.  Carolyn and I would greatley appreciate any and all support from our friends and family to help Alex get the treatment he needs. 

Alex lives in the UK and has a rare form of brain tumour - an astrocytoma of an unknown kind. His doctors have recommended he has Proton Beam Therapy to remove the tumour without causing collateral damage to the rest of his brain. However there are no facilities in the UK for his procedure. 

The National Healthcare System in the UK currently funds about 40 people a year to go to centres around the world. Sadly Alex is not one of these 40 as his tumour is very rare and therefore does not meet the strict diagnostic criteria that they have to set.

We need to get Alex to BOSTON!!!!  He has been referred to The Cancer Center at Massachusetts General Hospital which is one of the leading centres for Proton Beam Therapy. However, the cost of this treatment is £150,000 or $240,000. The family is putting in what they can but they need help.

So I am running in hope that you will sponsor me to help raise money to get him the treatment he so desperately needs.
