Update: We did it!!
After 8 days of trekking through the most amazing scenery imaginable we made it to base camp. It was incredibly tough and not without some problems but the sense of achievement and satisfaction we are experiencing has made it all seem worthwhile.
We cannot thank everyone enough for their generosity in supporting our adventure in aid of such a great cause.

Hi There
In case you don't know me, my name is Gary Simmons and I am the General Manager and PGA Professional at Puttenham Golf Club.
On the 10th February 2010 my wife Jackie and I are off to Nepal to trek up to Everest Base Camp with our great friend David Last (Hon Life member of Puttenham GC). This is a life ambition for all of us, but at the same time we thought it was too good an opportunity to miss to raise some money for a worthy cause.
Recently one of my work colleagues underwent breast cancer treatment for the second time. She has been amazing throughout her ordeal and will hopefully now remain cancer free. It is for this reason that I feel inspired to raise some money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, a Charity that is also being supported by Judy Smith the Ladies Captain at the Club where I work.
