Story
My story so far......................
I've always liked sports, i even went to PE college to become a teacher. The physical side was fine but the teaching part was a different story so although i made some great friends, one of whom inspired this run, after a year i knew teaching was not for me. In 1996 i was diagnosed type 1 Diabetic, insulin injection for the rest of my life! But during this year i studied human biology and thanks to Mrs Thompson i passed and went to university to do a degree in biomedical sciences. Four years later after graduation i was informed that Mrs Brenda Thompson had cancer and she had passed away. I dedicated my degree to her. I started working for blood transfusion service in Edinburgh which was great and when a job at BGH was advertised in the Haematology lab i had to go for it. That was 10 years ago, how time flies. In 2010 i was informed that an old friend from PE college had bowel cancer, i went to visit him with some lovable rogues, it was nice to catch up and meet his family. In July 2010 Hamish peacefully passed away, he was 37. A month later my 2nd son was born, aptly named Hamish, i really hope he grows up to be as kind, caring and enthusiastic as my old friend.
The BGH are building the Margaret Kerr unit, an 8 bed palliative care unit which will provide 24 hour care to these patients who need it most.
So if by running 13 miles i can raise money to help then so be it, all i need you guys to do is support me.
So please dig deep and donate now.
