We’re more determined than ever to make sure new generations, especially young people from disadvantaged groups, can discover the power of DofE.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Every bit of sponsorship - no matter how much or little - will help and is appreciated!!

About The Charity

DofE programmes help young people develop into fully rounded and responsible individuals.  Participants will see new talents and skills develop and emotional maturity blossom whilst also building their fitness and initiative.

There are so many rewards for young people who do DofE programmes and achieve an Award.  Its balanced programme of activities develops the whole person – mind, body and soul, in an environment of social interaction and team working.
Furthermore, as doing their DofE involves developing a personal programme of challenging activities, participants enjoy unique experiences and rewards.  However, having spoken with Award holders there is general agreement that participation develops:
  • Self-belief
  • Self-confidence
  • A sense of identity
  • Independence of thought and action
  • Respect and understanding of people from different backgrounds, cultures and walks of life
  • A sense of responsibility
  • An awareness of their potential
  • New talents and abilities
  • An understanding of strengths and weaknesses
  • The ability to plan and use time effectively
  • The ability to learn from and give to others in the community
  • New relationships
  • Skills including problem solving, presentation and communication
  • The ability to lead and work as part of a team.

Working with young offenders

In 2006 the DofE launched a new project called Aspire, which aims to understand and build on the breadth and depth of DofE activity with young offenders. It also has the aims of:

  • Challenging obstacles in delivering DofE programmes in the secure estate
  • Developing a model of good practice which can be replicated within the secure estate
  • Supporting prison staff and volunteers in the delivery of DofE programmes
  • Increasing the number of young people doing their DofE in the youth justice systems
  • Developing partnerships
  • Exploring how young people can continue DofE activities in resettlement and transition.

About the Event

We will be Mountain Biking and Hiking up to 30 miles a day across the High Atlas Mountains from Ourzazate to Marrakech.

The Event takes place between 2500m and 3500m above sea level so the effects of Altitude could be a factor.  Average daytime temperatures for September are 30 Degrees Celcius.
