Greetings,
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. On Sunday, 26 April I will be running the London Marathon for the Dystonia Society.
The Dystonia Society is a small organisation with a passionate core of supporters for a condition that is little known. Dystonia is the term used to describe involuntary sustained muscle contractions that lead to abnormal movements and postures. It is a neurological disorder that affects movement, but does not lead to problems with other functions of the brain such as intellect. The Dystonia Society provides support for people with the condition through research, support and information, and a network of local branches.
After a personal introduction to the Dystonia Society, I made the decision to run the marathon for them as a way of making a genuine difference. All charities need money but the impact made by the funds donated by my friends, family and colleagues to the Dystonia Society will make a bigger impact than donating to a better funded, much larger charity.
The blisters have begun and the distance is way beyond my current capability but I am going to put my energy (and hopefully your money!) where my mouth is and run the marathon for Dystonia. Any funds raised will also be part matched by the Macquarie Group Foundation so give generously.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Dystonia Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thanks for your generosity.
Gav
