Over 1.5 million in the UK have endometriosis and the impact of the disease is for some devastating, yet diagnosis takes on average 8 years. With your donations we are turning this around, raising awareness, providing support and information, supporting research, and campaigning for change.

Hi my name is Gayna,

I have lived with Endometriosis since I was 12 years old. Let me tell you a little bit about this condition.

It is a debilitating gynelogical medical condition in females. The effects of it can caus extreme pelvic pain, hormonal changes, painful menstral cycle amongst lots of other ailments. The symptoms of endometriosis can also indicate many other conditions  – and because endometriosis manifests itself in a variety of ways, diagnosis can be difficult.  It is shocking that the average time between a patient first consulting the doctor with the symptoms and then receiving the diagnosis is currently 8 years. Unfortunantly currently, there is no cure for endometriosis.

There are treatments  available that can help by relieving pain symptoms; shrinking or slowing endometriosis growth; preserving or restoring fertility; or preventing/delaying the recurrence of the disease, however more research needs to be done.

To give you an idea of how debilitating this is the UK economy loses £ 2 milllion a year in sickness due this illness and endometriosis is as common as diabetes, yet very little awareness is out there.

I ask you to please give as much as you possibily can so that more research and help can be given to women that really need it.

Thank you so much
