With the advent of the New Year, it has been ONE year since the war on Gaza was initiated.

Islamic Relief began its emergency operation in Gaza within HOURS of the first bombs dropping on 27 December 2008.

With YOUR very GENEROUS support over £3 million worth of supplies was delivered, during the 22 day conflict, benefiting over 500,000 people.

Islamic Relief’s work has included:

• Provided Life saving medical care
• Emergency support for families
• Caring for traumatised children
• Demolition waste removal & rebuilding schools
• Supporting the artificial limbs centre
• Development of primary health clinics
• Providing access to clean water
• Development of medical staff capabilities
• Microcredit & employment schemes

Continuous war has left thousands of Gazans with different degrees of trauma.

Following positive results from an existing centre caring for traumatised children, Islamic Relief now plans to establish a second badly-needed in the centre North Governorate of Gaza.

Food prices in Gaza are extremely high for a poor country.

Daily shortages are made worse by border restrictions and the economic blockade.

In response to these needs, Islamic Relief is expanding its existing Family Sponsorship Project which ensures that the most vulnerable families have access to basic food and services.
