As many of you know, I have always shared a passion for cycling for a very long time, whether a casual ride on a hot summer's day or a brisk cycle ride to the office fully suited and booted, which tends to draw interesting glares from passing pedestrians...however, I have never got the courage to challenge myself to do something extraordinary!

This is my chance!

In the next 10-weeks I will be training with  Hope and Knowledge cycling group in preparation for our 80 miles journey from London to Portsmouth. The race will start at 9am Saturday 27th April 2019, departing from Altab Ali Park, Whitechapel. Please make dua that I am physically/mentally able to complete this challenge successfully, Insha'Allah. 

Now the important stuff - How can you help:

The purpose of this challenge is to raise enough funds to help support the Al-Karama hospital in the North of Gaza. This hospital has been supported by Islamic Help in the past with medical supplies however one of the urgent needs of the hospital is a constant supply of electricity. At the moment when there is a power cut the hospital relies on backup generators which are expensive to run on diesel and to maintain. 

To solve this problem, Islamic Help plans to install solar panels at the Al Karama hospital, this will provide the hospital with free, renewable energy and reduce their dependence on diesel generators which also have a negative impact on the environment. 

As you know the Palestinians living in Gaza are considered to be some of the most oppressed people on the face of the earth. Their movement is restricted, they have little access to essential resources, food supply is limited, clean water is hard to access for the majority of the population and healthcare which is in constant demand is affected by a lack of medication, equipment and power cuts. Your generosity will help to solve the problem of constant power cuts at least one of the hospitals in Gaza.
