*** WE DID IT!!! - on Sun 9th August (not 1st as above) ***
Second time lucky on a beautiful sunny day! After expecting a long delay (and eating several bacon buttys) we were in the air by half past ten with not a cloud in sight.
At 13,000 ft the side door of the plane was yanked open and the solo's were the first to go, literally throwing themselves out. One by one we were shuffled to the edge of the door and with legs dangling out of the plane (OMG) had our tandem instructors shout "ARE YOU READY TO SKYDIVE!?!" Without waiting for an answer, that was it. Spinning in free fall at 120mph for what felt like a lifetime (was told afterwards was actually about a minute), until at 5,000 ft the parachutes were deployed. Awesome!!!
Pete had a bizarre surprise when another solo skydiver carried out a basic tag manouver with him in freefall, Lisa found small talk at 4,000 ft surreal ('I'm from Hastings!') and Amar managed to carry out a very impressive rolling landing. :D

The three of us are going to do a sponsored tandem skydive for the RAF Benevolent Fund in August (was July, date changed due to British weather!).
Its the RAFBF's 90th anniversary, and to celebrate 90 volunteers are going to skydive for the fund down at an airfield in Wiltshire.
Any donations big or small would be very appreciated!

The RAFBF has been the RAF's principal charity since 1919. It provides financial assistance and advice to anyone who has ever served in the RAF, and their partners and dependants too, from care and mobility services to relationship counselling, debt advice and RAF childcare centres.
