Raleigh works with local communities to make a difference, whilst encouraging young people to develop.

I have been selected to be a Project Manager on Raleigh's expedition to Costa Rica/Nicaragua for 13 weeks from June to September 2009, managing the community and environment projects along with 10 young people! I chose to apply to Raleigh because of their good reputation in sustainable projects. Phase 1 is a community project, such as building a school, a water facility for a local village, phase 2 is an environmental project, and the third phase a 270k trek across jungle, mountains and volcanoes over 20 days. Aside from managing the projects, I will also be mentoring, guiding and encouraging the young people on our expedition to encourage their own personal development.

Raleigh is a charity, and as such I aim to raise £2,000 to be able to join the expedition, through a golf day, a dinner/dance and a 270k static bike ride! More details to follow!
