After a bit of a blow-out in Thailand, Tom and I decided to opt for a healtheir lifestyle for a few months and figured we'd (now slightly regretfully...) attempt a spot of running!

When a friend told me a couple of years ago they were going to run a marathon, having never myself entered a competitive race in my life, thought they were barking mad. So somehow I'm now going to be running both the Brighton Half Marathon on 17th February and the Virgin London Marathon on 21st April to help support the incredible work of both Women’s Aid. I am also, as a sidenote, absolutely terrified at the prospect.

Your support is really important to Tom and I, giving us the motivation to keep pulling ourselves away from the sofa and the ever-enticing biscuit tin despite the rain and frost, so that our efforts enable Women's Aid to continue to protect women and children from domestic violence.

Scotland Yard recently commented upon the scale of this violence, suggesting that one third of women will suffer from some form of physical or sexual abuse at the hands of their partners during their lifetime, which is a staggering figure.

So any amount, no matter how big or small, would be greatly appreciated to help Women's Aid keep running the services that can protect women and children and its campaigns to improve people's knowledge about the problem.
