Hello Everyone, I have been working for Contact the Elderly for 18 months now and everyday brings with it something new that makes me think what a wonderful charity this really is. Only two weeks ago we received a letter from an elderly member that enjoys our tea parties and she wrote “Since being invited to Contact the Elderly, I feel my life has been enriched. Remember the saying ‘growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional’.” Now is your chance to help us continue to provide a lifeline of friendship to so many elderly people in our community that have very little or no social contact. Contact the Elderly brings friendship to some of the most lonely and isolated older people living in the UK.  We do this by bringing together small groups of lonely, older people and kind hearted volunteers, and together they share a delicious Sunday afternoon tea in a volunteer’s home.

This simple act, reminiscent of so many similar weekends spent with long lost family and friends, makes a huge difference and gives the most lonely a welcome respite to the ‘four walls’ and the monotony of their day-to-day life.
