Geoff's Atlantic Challenge · 17 February 2009

For many young people simply picking up where they left off before their diagnosis isn’t possible. The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is a national charity that supports young people aged 8-24 to rebuild their confidence after cancer through sailing and outdoor adventure trips.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Throughout my life I've been lucky to have experienced the freedom and independence of being at sea. Anyone who has experienced those same feelings will feel equaly priviledged. Being on a boat seems to somehow remove all the problems and barriers we face on land, and that is even more important to those like me with a disability.  At sea you are equal to those around you and you leave all thoughts of your disability behind on the quayside.

The Ellen Macarthur Trust provides children with cancer with the opportunity to experience that same freedom and independence.

It costs the EMT approximately £500 per child to provide this life-enhancing experience.  My biggest hope in attempting my Atlantic crossing that it will inspire people like yourself to give generously to the EMT.  Please help me raise a minimum of £5000 to cover the costs of at least 10 more children to join the EMT.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Ellen MacArthur Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
