Heavy Metal Truants · 12 June 2013 ·

Nordoff and Robbins is the UK’s largest music therapy charity, with a unique approach shaped by more than 60 years of practice. Through the power of music, it breaks through the barriers caused by life-limiting illness, disability and social isolation. The charity does this through providing music therapy to people across the UK, whilst also training the music therapists of the future and funding research to measure and improve the impact of its work.

Story

Thanks for looking at my page.

Three year ago I was meant to raise money for Nordoff Robins doing a bike ride in Egypt when Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood persuaded me to join his merry mob of heavy metal truants.

Unfortunately I had to pull out of the ride at the last minute when my father became ill and missed out on the opportunity of to cycle hundreds of miles and raise money for the charity.

My dad sadly died later that year so I've decided that three years on I'll face the saddle soreness once again and raise money by riding from London to Donington.

We'll be ending up at the Download Festival to see Maiden play a headline set, hopefully celebrating a great gig and raising a huge amount for a wonderful charity.
