Let me introduce myself – my name is Gulwant S Bains (George Bains)

I have decided to do a charity walk of 10 miles for Breast Cancer Care and The LOROS Hospice and hope to raise £2 million. The walk will be on 3rd October 2009 at Bradgate Park, Leicester.  I am 80 years old but am mentally positive and physically strong. I always think about my fitness levels and know I can achieve my target as far as my health allows.

The reason for the charity walk: Unfortunately my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999. She received fantastic care from the LOROS clinic and is still being treated by the hospital at their lymphoedema clinic. I would also like to raise money for Breast Cancer Care who support others like my wife who are affected by the disease by offering information and support.

It was all a blessing in disguise the way we found out about the breast cancer. I do not want future generations to suffer with the same dilemma. More and more money has to be spent for check ups during the early stages.
