Story
Hi all,
On September 18th I shall be running the Bupa Great North Run. The event which involves around 54,000 runners covers 13.1 miles of hostile North Eastern terrain and has become widely established as the most iconic half marathon on the planet.
I have chosen to run in aid of the Alzeimers Society who are the leading support services and research specialist for dementia (various different brain disorders that have in common a loss of brain function that are usually progressive and eventually severe) in the UK.
The majority of funding goes towards:
- Providing information and support for people with all kinds of dementia and their carers.
- Funding research into the cause, care, cure and prevention of dementia.
- Providing learning resources and training.
- Campaigning for improved health and social care.
- Improving public understanding and awareness of dementia.
It's a great cause and any donations will really make a difference, so please dig deep.
Thanks for taking the time, your support is much appreciated.
George
