Flora London Marathon 2004 · 18 April 2004 ·

Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

I am running the Flora London Marathon in April on behalf of Spinal Research. The motivation for my uncharacteristic dive into fitness is owing to the temporary paralysis I suffered during several rugby matches. Following the diagnosis of a Syrinx in my spinal cord I am no longer able to play the beautiful game.

Clive Woodward and the English RFU have taken the news surprisingly well!!! Training is going well although painful and I hope to put in a reasonable time (sub 5 hours).

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Spinal Research will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
