Flora London Marathon 2006 · 23 April 2006 ·

Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

So I failed to reach my target of a sub 4 hour marathon last year!  I guess I can be grateful for being spared any photographic evidence of my spell rolling around on the floor with cramp crying like a baby.  At the time I was thankful for finding ‘that puddle’ an oasis to cool off in on what was a barren day – thanks a lot Paula!!!

But like my running I’m not looking back… Another New Year and another ambitious target with a sub 3:45 marathon in mind.  As many of you will have seen in the Times (yes in the Times) I met up with Paula at the Nike 10K and took some valuable pointers.  Still, however good her advice I have been unable to bring myself to soil underwear and urinate in the street while running, I just wish I could say the same for a night out!!!

Following last years marathon I managed to complete a 63 mile fell race, numerous ½ marathons and recently a 54 mile run along the Thames – so as long as the body holds out my seeming ambitious target could be achievable.  I appreciate that this will come as a shock to all those who thought that they would only see me running to a burger van or out of an Indian restaurant!

Thank you to those that have sponsored me in previous years and to those who are pledging for the first time.  Having suffered a ‘near miss’ with a spinal injury I am extremely grateful to everybody that helps me raise funds to enable Spinal Research to continue their ground breaking trials.

Many thanks for your support
