Flora London Marathon 2008 · 13 April 2008 ·

Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

Last year the unseasonal heat got the better of me and I finished 9 seconds slower than in 2006 in a little over 3:32!  No lasting damage other than a bruised and some what dehydrated ego…  Later in the year I finally broke the three and half hour mark at the Isle of Man Marathon (no danger of too much sun there) finishing in 3:29.

As for this year I would like to think that I can finish in the low twenties but I have learnt that any progress is good progress, still sub 2:25 would be nice.

Thank you to those that have sponsored me in previous years and to those who are pledging for the first time.  Having suffered a ‘near miss’ with a spinal injury I am extremely grateful to everybody that helps me raise funds to enable Spinal Research to continue their ground breaking trials.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Shelley, Ben and Holly for putting up with my training and horrible toenails ;)

And for all of you that thought my Marathon running was madness just you wait to see what I’ve got planned for 2009…

Many thanks for your support.
